Kids Festival

What a great day. The flea market that my gramma has a booth at was holding a Kids Festival today. We had so much fun. Emma won herself a golf fish. Now the 3rd one that we've one this summer from fairs/festivals. So far he's doing well in the tank. Then we moved on to picking lollipop's, throwing balls through holes in wood cut-outs, and picking duckies. She got so many goodies! A princess wand which she has loved playing with all night, she puts her shape sorter on her head like a crown and kept walking around with the wand. Two balls. A jump rope. A value pack thing of water guns. A hot pink toy car. And she went into two different bounce houses. She LOVED them! She kept saying "bounce" every time she'd bounce around, although she didn't get standing and bouncing, but hey what can you really expect from a one year old right? And she went on two pony rides. She had the biggest smile when the pony first started going around. She looked like a pro up there. I started crying watching her, I just can't believe she's that big! :o) Here are a couple pics, not the greatest quality since I forgot my camera and had to resort to my cell phone. But at least I got some pics.

In Other News...

1. Happy Birthday to my cousin Sara!

2. Emma is feeling SO MUCH better today. Some kind of funky bug is going around and it seems like everyone is having different symptoms. Emma got hit with the diarrhea part of it all. And she's been having bouts of it a couple/few times a day. Tuesday night when I got home the hubs said that she was starting to freak out when he'd change her diaper. Midnight that night she woke up with another bout. I tried changing her and she just started crying, screaming NO at me, clamping her legs shut. The hubs got awoken and tried helping me to just clean her up. That was a no go, so I though ok, we'll put her in the tub. Yeah, as soon as the water hit her she started crying in pain and stood up very quickly. It was horrible. I felt so bad for her. So, we went to the dr's and got some medicated cream. The first two times where as struggle to put it on her. But she looks 150% better today!!! Yay...I hate my baby being in pain.

3. Eric is in two golf tournaments this weekend. His first. That's exciting! Everyone please think of him. Hopefully he'll win some prizes. :o)

1 year Old "Punks" her Gramma

Story as re-told to me from the hubs. I was working. So, Mom went out to the kitchen to get their regular snack of some cheese slices, when Emma comes out saying "emote" with her hands up at her sides like Where'd it go? So, Mom comes out to the living room looking for it as Emma just keeps saying "emote" over and over. Then Emma gets down on her belly in front of the couch looking for the "emote". Mom bends down and looks under there thinking that's where Emma put it since she got down looking for it. Lo and behold there is no "emote" under the couch. Emma walks over to her Elmo couch flips it open and there is the "emote" where she had hidden it and she just laughs.

Honestly, the fact that she hid it and then looked somewhere else where she knew it wasn't? Is this a sign of how full my hands are going to be in the next few years? Ah...I just can't believe she did that! I was laughing so hard when the hubs was telling me/re-enacting some of.

Ramblings at it's Finest

No specific reason for this post. Just ramblings of things I've been thinking about. One of the main things is the friends in my life. Which pretty much are zero. Yes I have the oh, 3 people I could call up if I need to, but I've lost touch with my friends. I miss talking to them daily/a couple times a week. Is it me? Do I make people just stop talking to me for some reason? I mean look at my history and I have a handful of friends who seriously stop talking to me for no reason that I can see and even with me trying to get in touch, no response. I'm just not sure what to think of it. Work. This company makes absolute no freaking sense to me. I mean seriously I don't think you can do anything to get fired from this place. Even if you DO get fired, they rehire you?! I just do NOT get it. But then it's their money, so why should I care. I mean I go there for 4 hours and do maybe an hours worth of work total, just because there is NO work. I'm A'okay to get paid for sitting around talking with the other ladies. Families. They are definitely the Catch 22 of all Catch 22's. You can call on them and they will be there in an instant. And yet when it comes to simplifying things people just have to be stubborn and attitude-y. As the woman on my BB say. I'm just going to put on my big girl panties and get over it. I think we all need to remember that now and then. Because there are other people in our lives besides just ourselves and our immediate families. I think we all lose sight of that at times. But hey what are you going to do really? People are how they are. It's how they've always been. There's no teaching an old dog new tricks. Emma. I will say it again, and many more times in the future, she's getting TOO BIG! Tonight she counted to 16!!! I mean seriously, it's the cutest freaking thing ever to hear her count...but 16! I just can't believe it. And the hubs wants me to shape up her hair. So, I'm thinking of bringing up her length, and this way, her bangs will actually be closer to the length of her hair. I'm sad to think about her getting her hair cut, but then also excited. And what do I think of except for saving some for a baggie so I can scrap about it. Lols. Speaking of scrapping reminds me of wanting to clean out our basement and re-do it some. Perhaps some paint, some fabric curtains in the doorways to the ugly parts. And then I get excited thinking about our remodeling this coming winter. Switching rooms with Emma. What colors/theme should Emma's new "big girl" room be? I'm thinking of some bright colors. Getting some chalkboard paint and making an area for her to color with. An activity center. Actual bookshelves instead a big plastic container. I'm excited. I'm thinking I'm going to start hunting at Home Depot for their oopsie cans, and perhaps we'll get lucky with a color? Who knows though. And to end this alls I've got to say is "Cheers"! Lifting my glass and tilting it towards you before taking a sip.

ETA: Didn't log on yesterday to wish my cousin Chris a Happy Birthday!

::Breathless Sunset::

Last night I was heading to WalMart for some groceries, it had stopped raining and I got to enjoy this beautiful sunset. I wish I could have just pulled over and watched it completely. I love these little moments that take your break away.

Weekend Fun-ness

I don't think it still has hit me that we are already in September! I mean seriously, my baby girl will be turning 2 in 23 days!!! It's making me just want to dig my heels deep into the ground and slow down time some. It's going by too quickly. Until her birthday we have golf tournaments, church dinners, scrapbooking crop, apple festival, and a wedding. I just feel like this month is going to fly by too quickly. Anyways, moving forward.

First off...Happy Birthday Uncle Chooky!

Secondly - What strange weather the past couple days. Friday was up in the 90's and sunny. Yesterday (Saturday) was pouring down rain all day until later evening down in the 70's but it was humid. Today is sunny and I'm going to guess in the 70's/80's. I'm just glad that there is a decent breeze blowing through the house.

Thirdly - I went to my first adult sex party. The company is called Tasteful Treasures. Maureen a woman I work with was hosting it. I rode down with two other ladies I work with. It was a fun party. You got to test out the edible stuff, lotions, massage oils, etc on your hands. It was fun seeing what all is out there and seeing things up close, instead of just purchasing w/o knowing what you are getting.

Fourthly - Rainy days are perfect times for crafts! I saw this on a girls blog from my BB on BBC. So, we did our own lady bug project also. Pictures following...

Women and Voting

A woman from my birth board posted this email her grandma sent her. A good reminder to all women able to vote!

'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'
(Lucy Burns)
They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above
her head and left her hanging for! r the night, bleeding and gasping
for air.
(Dora Lewis)
They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her
head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate,
Alice Cost, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.
Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging,
beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.
Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917,
when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his
guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because
they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right
to vote.
For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their
food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.
(Alice Paul)
When one of the leaders, <>Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks
until word was smuggled out to the press.
So, refresh my memory. Some women won't vote this year because-
-why, exactly? We have carpool duties? We have to get to work?
Our vote doesn't matter? It's raining?
Last week, I went to a sp arsely attended screening of HBO's new
movie 'Iron Jawed Angels.' It is a graphic depiction of the battle
these women waged so that I could pull the curtain at the polling
booth and have my say. I am ashamed to say I needed the reminder.
All these years later, voter registration is still my passion. But the
actual act of voting had become less personal for me, more rote.
Frankly, voting often felt more like an obligation than a privilege.
Sometimes it was inconvenient.
My friend Wendy, who is my age and studied women's history,
saw the HBO movie, too. When she stopped by my desk to talk
about it, she looked angry. She was--with herself. 'One thought
kept coming back to me as I watched that movie,' she said.
'What would those women think of the way I use, or don't use,
my right to vote? All of us take it for granted now, not just
younger women, but those of us who did seek to learn.' The
right to vote, she said, had become valuable to her 'all over again.'
HBO released the movie on video and DVD . I wish all history,
social studies and government teachers would include the movie in
their curriculum I want it shown on Bunko night, too, and anywhere
else women gather. I realize this isn't our usual idea of socializing,
but we are not voting in the numbers that we should be, and I think
a little shock therapy is in order.
It is jarring to watch Woodrow Wilson and his cronies try to persuade a psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could be permanently institutionalized. And it is inspiring to watch the doctor refuse. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave. T hat didn't make her crazy.
The doctor admonished the men: 'Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity.'
Please, if you are so inclined, pass this on to all the women you know.
We need to get out and vote and use this right that was fought so
hard for by these very courageous women. Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party - remember to vote.
History is being made.

I'm feeling refreshed.

So, I started this book series this past Friday called Twilight. They made it into a movie and it premiers 12.12.08. I definitely want to see it as soon as it comes out. I'm not one for vampire kind of books, but it was very good. I finished the 4th and final book for the series yesterday. I just had to keep reading to find out what happened. Thankfully for me I started it after all of the books were out so I didn't need to wait. But very good. Anyone wants to borrow them let me know! :o)

And I am very lucky to have very creative people in my life b/w my SHM's (Scrap Happy Mama's) and my LSM's (Late September Mommies). One of the LSM's in my group name Lisa does graphic work on the computer. Here's the invite she made me for Emma's party. And here's an awesome siggy that she made for all of us in my group.

Books, Parties, Ink, Portraits

The rest of the week was pretty busy, since any day I had off from work, I had plans.

Thursday - Mom R, Emma and me went to the mall to find some clothes for Emma's 2 year portraits scheduled for Sunday. We found some awesome deals. A $60 dress for $4, $40 leggings/top outfit for $4, a jean skirt for $28 for $7, these all were at Macy's. You'll see the dress and outfit in her 2 year portraits later on. Then we headed to Gap, got her a dress for next summer and this adorable long sleeved onsie that is bright pink, and has an owl on it that say "Hoo Love you Baby". And then off to JcPenny's we went and I got her some pj's for the winter BOGO. Overall a very successful shopping trip for clothes. I was getting Lily's birthday present and while at the books store, I saw the whole Twilight series. I've been seeing a lot about the 4th book release earlier in August called Breaking Dawn. So, I thought I'd pick up the first book and see what it was all about.

Friday - I worked, but while at work I got this wonderful video from the hubs of our "expressive" daughter using her body as an outlet for creativity with a pen. Picture will be following. When I got home from work, I cracked open Twilight and was so engrossed I had to finish the book, which was a mistake that kept me up way too late! :) But I very much enjoyed the book.

Saturday - We went to Lily's 4th Birthday party. The theme was SpongeBob. Lots of kids there, Emma was in heaven just running around and around with the other kids. We visited the Horton Grandparents. I went out for the evening running errands and just enjoying some alone time, while the hubs went to the driving range and Mom R watched Emma. It was nice to just get out. Visited Reece Grandparents that night too. And I also picked up the 2nd and 3rd book in the Twilight Series.

Sunday - I slept way too late, catching up on sleep from staying up too late reading. It was a relaxing day overall. Woke Emma up from nap and we headed to Portrait Innovations for her 2 year portraits. I'm so glad that we decided to go there. We did 3 outfit changes, they took 66 shots, we got loads of awesome pics, along with a cd of all of the pics, some free thank you cards with her picture on them. Here are some of our favorites:

How quickly time flies...

So, today I'll be posting several postings from the last week. I don't know why but it was one of those weeks that time just flies by too quickly and have difficulty finding time for certain things.
